USMS has just adopted the same swimwear rule that FINA approved earlier in the year.
Rules go into effect IMMEDIATELY.

FINA Swim Suit Rules

Here's FINA/USA Swimming's sketch up of the rules for USA and FINA regulated swim meets.
Quickly:
1) Men may only wear jammers or briefs. Women may wear normal competitive suits, or kneeskins.
2) Suit fabric must be of textile quality, i.e. the suit should not be able to float on its own;-)
3) Suits may not sport zippers or other fastening equipment (less the waist tie on a jammer or brief).
